How do I put the power supply in the constant current mode?
Most power supplies cannot be "put" into the constant current mode. The output settings of the power supply and the load resistance determine whether the power supply is in constant current. The power supply inherently stays in constant voltage mode. If the output voltage is set to 24 V with a 6 Ω load across the output terminals, the current would be (24 V / 6 Ω).
This presumes that the power supply’s constant current setting was set to a value greater than 4 A. If the voltage divided by the load resistance exceeds the constant current setting, the actual voltage decreases to the product of the load resistance and the constant current setting, as shown in the examples below.
